Introduction

The Postgraduate Diploma in International Health provides a two-semester course of study, which enables students to enhance their knowledge and skills in international health. Students study a combination of units which are based on current knowledge andpractice in international health. These units relate to the acquisition of knowledge and skills for the planning, management and delivery of appropriate health programs and services throughout the world. Upon successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma, students will have the option of admission to the Master of International Health.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Applicants must have a bachelor degree or equivalent and relevant work experience for entry to the Postgraduate Diploma program. Selection will be based on academic background, work experience and referee reports. The applicant will provide a completed Application for Admission and Enrolment/Amendment forms, a curriculum vitae including relevant work experience and names and contact details of two professional referees, certified copy of academic qualification(s), a brief statement of specific interests in international health (maximum 250 words) and acceptable evidence of English proficiency (international applicants only).

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior learning may be awarded to suitably qualified applicants who have work experience in relevant areas or have successfully completed relevant Postgraduate units.

Duration and Availability

The fee paying course is two semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. The program is also offered by distance education. Part-time and/or distance education study is only available to Australian resident students and international students studying outside Australia. Students undertaking units by distance education should note the contact hours indicated below are only a guide for individual study.

Intermediate Awards

A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in International Health may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School. Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
