Introduction
Designed for those aspiring to middle, senior and executive level managerial career. The course features guided independent study, team projects and maximum use of information and communications technology.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
There are three pathways to the Master of Commerce (Management) degree - Students with a Bachelors degree in business, commerce or economics with a course weighted average of at least 70 per cent may be admitted directly to the Master of Commerce (Management) program. Students with a Bachelors degree in business, commerce or economics with a course weighted average of less than 70 per cent may be admitted to the Master of Commerce (Management) program after completion of Post-Graduate Diploma in Management with a course weighted average of at least 70 per cent. Students who have completed a Graduate Certificate in Management and a Graduate Diploma in Management each with a course weighted average of at least 70 per cent may be admitted to the Master of Commerce (Management) program. Please note, the above conditions may be varied at the discretion of the Head of School or the Academic Program Area Head.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is four semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units are available in the evening.
Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Postgraduate Diploma in Management may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award, subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under General Information.
Course Organisation
Full-time and part-time seminars and research units.
Professional Recognition
Depending upon the major area of study chosen, graduates are eligible for membership of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Management.
Career Opportunities
Graduates generally find employment positions that have an interest in or focus on management activities in the intermediary managerial level.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
