Introduction
The Honours program consists of specialised and intensive, studio-based studies in the fields of design and art and is designed to provide students who have an undergraduate pass degree in visual arts and design with the opportunity to establish a research practice through the development of a creative art or design project. The course encourages intellectual and creative involvement at an advanced level required to extend their professional practice in contemporary visual art or design. Students are assisted in developing an individual course of study in consultation with academic staff from their chosen studio or major specialisation.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Refer to Admission into Honours Degree Programs and Regulations for Honours Degrees (General Information section). Students intending to apply for entry must have achieved a minimum course weighted average of 65 percent. Candidates must inform the honours coordinator of their intention to apply through completing the application process for entry to the Honours program.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
The honours program is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials. Students majoring in art related studios are required to pay consumables fees (approx $170 a semester).
