Introduction
The Master of Business Leadership (MBL) is a specialist degree dedicated to the pursuit of leadership excellence. It is offered through the Curtin Graduate School of Business (CGSB), one of the largest executive graduates business schools in the Asia Pacific Region and located in the heart of the Perth CBD. It is taught alongside the Master of Business Administration (MBA), which is internationally accredited by the UK based Association of MBAs (AMBAs) and is one of the few MBAs in Australia to be internationally ranked by the The Economist. The MBL is one of the longest running masters level leadership programs in Australia and is designed for students with senior and executive level experience. The curriculum builds on the business acumen acquired in an MBA and offers students a more detailed understanding and engagement with current and future leadership challenges. Students are constantly required to analyse and reframe leadership concepts alongside their own leadership styles. Graduates leave with a more strategic understanding and engagement with leadership. The typical student in the program is in their late 30s / early 40s and has often completed an MBA before commencing the MBL.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A bachelor degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution or equivalent, and at least three years relevant work experience. Selection, which is competitive, will be based on a range of information including grades achieved in previous study, referee reports, relevance of work experience, career aspirations and interview. Applicants are required to submit referee reports, a CV and a 500 word essay. Applicants with a Curtin MBA will be eligible for 50 per cent advanced standing towards their MBL.
Specific Requirements
The Graduate Board of Examiners require, unless there are exceptional circumstances, that those with more than two failures in the course or more than four units with grades below 60 per cent be excluded from the course, so as to maintain the high standard expected of such a prestigious qualification.
