312329 v.1 Anthropology and Sociology Major

Introduction

This major introduces students to the study of human societies, their origins, development, interactions and contemporary variations. It enables students to understand how contemporary local, regional and national societies and cultures are affected by, and respond to, processes of global change such as industrialisation, urbanisation, increasing inter-ethnic contacts, environmental transformation and new modes of communication.

Major combinations within the BA

Students choosing this major within the Bachelor of Arts degree will also choose another major or an elective stream. Choosing a second major allows students to study in an additional discipline area. Choosing an elective stream allows students to undertake further study in the discipline of their first major or choose from a variety of units from around the University. Combinations of majors are listed in the handbook at http://handbook.curtin.edu.au/courses/31/311921.html.
