Course Overview
Master Degrees (Coursework) prepare students to apply advanced knowledge for professional practice, scholarship and further learning corresponding to AQF level 9 qualifications.
This high quality, teacher education program will provide a formal teaching qualification targeted to meet the requirements of the local teaching authority in your country. The course draws on Curtin’s expertise in designing and delivering teacher education programs accredited in Australia. These programs consistently prepare graduates with the skills and knowledge they need to be effective school teachers who make a positive impact on children’s learning. Rigorous theoretical studies are authentically linked to local school contexts during three professional experience placements in schools. Placement units are developed and delivered in partnership with local education providers, ensuring recognition and respect for local education priorities and perspectives. As a graduate of the Master of Teaching Studies (Global Education), you will be a classroom ready teacher who is empowered to create better education outcomes for your country’s children.

Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Master Degree (Coursework) are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://study.curtin.edu.au/. Subject to the duration of the course applicants usually require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent (and may require relevant work experience), Bachelor Honours Degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma. All Curtin courses have compulsory and other core capabilities that are essential for demonstrating the achievement of course learning outcomes and graduation. Students who are unable to meet or demonstrate those requirements, now or in later stages during their studies, may seek reasonable adjustments by the University wherever possible to facilitate alternative ways of achieving those requirements. If reasonable adjustments cannot be accommodated, Curtin will discuss study options to find an alternative course of study or an exit degree. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Applicants require a Bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution, with studies equivalent to at least one year FTE in areas relating to the early years or primary school curricula approved by the local teaching authority. Applicants will also be required to meet non-academic entry requirements, assessed by completion of an online questionnaire. The questionnaire is designed to allow applicants to demonstrate that they possess key attributes and motivations associated with effective teaching. Students will be required to have a current and valid clearance for Working with Children as required in the country in which the placement provider is located. They will also need to meet any other relevant local requirements before engaging in any work with children or professional experience. If students have any doubt about their eligibility to acquire these clearances they should contact the local Teacher Registration Authority.

Applications for Credit for Recognised Learning are not considered within this course.
Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Education as a pathway for entry into this course may be eligible to receive credit for units studied as part of that degree.
