Syllabus:

A comparison of the industrial relations frameworks and processes in a number of countries. There will also be a focus on the historical, social and economic aspects of each country, as well as an examination of the roles of the principle parties and thebargaining processes.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Understanding of and comprehension of the industrial relations systems of advanced industrialised and developing market economies. Understanding of the significant global changes that have occurred since the 1980s. Analysed and discussed the concept of convergence versus divergence with regard to the globalisation of industrial relations systems and frameworks. Developed a sound understanding of the industrial, historical, social and economic issues that have emerged in the countries covered during the semester.

Unit Assessment Breakdown:

Students must undertake all assessment components and must pass the final examination to pass the unit. Mid-Term Test 30%. Groupwork/Presentation 40%. Examination 30%. This is by grade/mark assessment.
