Syllabus:

Curriculum designed as a product, a process and a field of study - issues arising from complexity. Inductive approaches to curriculum theory referring to design, dissemination, adoption, implementation, incorporation, continuance and diffusion. Deductive approaches to curriculum theory referring to conflicting conceptions of curriculum, its nature and purpose. Analysis of the theoretical implications of different theoretical approaches - the role of the teacher in the curriculum process.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Demonstrated an understanding of the basic issues of curriculum development in relation to the theory and practice of needs assessment, design, dissemination, implementation and evaluation. Applied their understanding to these issues, through discussion and written assignments, to curriculum practice in their own areas of teaching.
