Syllabus:

Advanced theory and practice of writing short prose fiction. Individual, work and critical workshop discussion.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- An understanding of the parameters and possibilities of the short fiction form. Developed skills necessary for a writer of fiction including practising and developing attention to detail. Developed research skills appropriate to the genre. Completed exercises focussing on different aspects of the genre. Written and edited short fiction pieces and produced a written critique of these pieces. Learnt to sensitively critique the work of others. Utilised a reading audience for the improvement of the author's own work.
