Syllabus:

Discourses of ethics and their relationship to reflective practice. Ethics and morality. Understandings of 'practising ethically'. Ethics in a postmodern world. Human rights as a basis for practice. The discursive construction of human rights and their application across different fields of practice and in different cultural contexts.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- An understanding of key concepts in the literature about ethics and ethical debates. An understanding of key issues surrounding human rights. Applied ideas about human rights to practice issues in their chosen area. An understanding of ethical and human rights issues raised in other fields of practice. Demonstrated an ability to apply ethics and human rights principle in different cultural contexts, through active engagement in dialogue.
