Syllabus: | Cardiovascular system. Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Control of blood pressure. Hypertension. Blood. Inflammation and trauma. Renal system. Diuresis. Renal pH control. Urine formation and control. Interrelationships in the secretion and reabsorption of essential ions. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Developed an initial introductory knowledge of basic molecular mechanisms in relation to the structure and function of selected human organ and blood systems. Developed an appreciation of (with emphasis on possible sites of drug influence) the relationship between basic molecular events and the function and pathophysiology of the immune and inflammatory systems as well as cardiovascular and renal systems. |
