Syllabus:

Clinic preparation, infection control, appointments, patient assessment, records. Instruments. Moisture control. Direct restorative materials. Polishing and re-contouring. Alginate impressions, study casts. Clinical aspects of caries. Plaque control and removal. Fluoride applications, sealants. Periodontology - periodontium, periodontal disease - aetiology, tissue changes. Occupational health issues.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Demonstrated knowledge of the principal dental diseases. Demonstrated knowledge of dental clinic protocols. Demonstrated knowledge of dental instruments and materials. Demonstrated knowledge of specific patient care procedures.
