Contact Hours:

2.0

Lecture:

2 x 1 Hours Weekly

Prerequisite(s):

7081 (v.4) Chemistry 071 or any previous version

Syllabus:

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to recognise the language of chemistry and identify whether or not a problem situation requires a chemical solution, show an appreciation of the principles of chemistry which are so much part ofour everyday lives and understand the relevance of chemistry in important industrial applications such as corrosion, concrete, water treatment, and mineral processing. They will gain of the impact that industrial and commercial processes have on the quality of the environment and means to minimise pollution, and other environmental hazards and they will be able to employ practical expertise in chemistry to undertake reliable and robust experiments that may be used in practical problem solving situationswithin the engineering and related professions.
