Syllabus:

Theory and practice of psychotherapy with individuals. Examination of the nature of the psychotherapeutic interaction with an emphasis on the development of process skills. Consideration of different models and styles of psychotherapeutic intervention. Review of the psychotherapeutic practice research and the integration of knowledge and skills with regard to the adoption of empirically supportable strategies and techniques.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Enhanced understanding, practical competence and self-confidence in the process of psychotherapy. An enhanced understanding of the content and process of psychotherapy, their performance as a psychotherapist, including an understanding of how "who they are" as a person affects their performance as a psychotherapist and the "ingredients" of psychotherapy that contribute to its effectiveness.
