Syllabus: | Relationship between data and information. The techniques of collecting, recording, compiling and manipulating planning data and literature. Measurement of quality and quantity, accuracy, reliability of tendency and trend measures and projections. Problem identification and definition, hypothesis testing, analytical method, applied experimental design, policy translation and evaluation of research quality. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have extended the consideration of types of data available from statistical to non-statistical sources and considered the appropriateness of quantitative and qualitative research. Considered the problem of the design of a total research programme and of its implementation and related this to a choice of a Project Report topic. Found and evaluated information sources and produced a critical review of literature appropriate to the chosen Project Report. |
