Syllabus: | System modelling and stability analysis. PID controllers. Bode, Nyquist, Root Locus analysis and design. State-space approach to continuous time systems, observability, controllability. System design. PLCs. |
|
Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have gained an understanding of the basic concepts and principles related to control systems and have acquired techniques for modelling, analyzing and designing a control system. More specifically theywill have learnt how to simplify and manipulate system models for purposes of analysis and synthesis, compute the time response of a system, determine properties of a control system, design a controller to certain specifications, carry out simulations using Matlab and create and implement PLC ladder diagrams to control simple output devices. |
