Syllabus: | Infective, rheumatoid, psoriatic and osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondolytis, Reiter's syndrome, Paget's disease, nerve entrapment, reflex dystrophy, neoplastic and traumatic lesions. Symptomatology, laboratory investigations, diagnosis, medical, surgicaland physical treatment of the various pathological entities. Relationships between emotional and physical disorders. Identification of symptoms produced by psychological states. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of the unit the students will have described the pathological entities seen in physiotherapy practice. Identified similarities and differences between pathological entities. Differentiated between pathologies which are amenable to physical treatment and those which require referral to other health practitioners. Demonstrated familiarity with evaluation methods which can be used to distinguish among patients who present with a physical problem and those whose presentation suggestsa psychological basis. |
