Syllabus: | Biological determinants. Psychosocial development. Sex and society - general attitudes. Sexuality and religion, society and the law. Education stream - Models of sexuality education. Concerns and attitudes. Program planning and process. Counselling stream - Taking a psychosocial sexual history. Common dysfunctions and their treatment. Counselling models and therapeutic tools. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Developed the ability to synthesise the biological, cultural, social, behavioural and spiritual aspects of human sexual expression. Developed a knowledge of the range of sexual dysfunction. Demonstrated skills in interviewing and counselling for sexual and relationship problems and knowledge of the legal, moral and spiritual implications of certain sexual behaviours. |
