Selection and writing of objectives appropriate to different groups of students. Developing learning sequences in the subject area. Selecting materials and media. Evaluation - student progress, and of the course. Techniques for evaluating progress - place of evaluation in the subject and in the classroom. Provision for evaluation in curriculum materials and guides. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have understood the aims and practices of teaching visual art in the secondary school, with particular emphasis on the lower secondary levels of schooling. Become familiar with the Arts strand of the Curriculum Framework document, programming visual art learning experiences, lesson planning, classroom strategies and teacher resources. Knowledge of concerning availability of media and facilities, assessment and reporting procedures and professional expectations. |
