Syllabus:

Occupational safety and health. Liability of the legislation and regulations and the role of safety policy and organisation. Other topics include equal opportunity laws, workers compensation and common law liability, and specific legal aspects relating to women in the paid workforce.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have recognised the legal issues in industrial relations matters. Identified the sources of law in relation to the industrial matter or conflict and to analyse the effect of and conflict of law. Formulated responses to the industrial matters/conflicts from both the employer and employee perspective. Predicted outcomes to hypothetical industrial scenarios. Recognised the role of legislators, tribunals and participants in the system. Evaluated the role of the law in industrial relations.
