Syllabus:

Constitutional law and the process towards a Federal Constitution. An examination of various provisions of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution. The Constitution Act of Western Australia.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have developed an ability to - Describe the background to, the structure of, and the key provisions of, the Australian Constitution. Discuss the operation of the key components of the Australian system of government. Explain various provisions of the Australian Constitution as interpreted by the High Court of Australia. Explain the processes by which the Australian Constitution may be changed. Discuss some of the emerging issues in Australian Constitutional Law.
