Syllabus: | Develop an understanding of the research process in science and mathematics education that involves both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Develop a capacity to work independently in conceptualizing an investigation in order to produce a doctoral thesis. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Articulate the main characteristics of the research process. Draw upon various types of research methods for disciplined inquiry. Understand different data gathering and analysis procedures. Consider the ethical implications of research. Develop a capacity to conceptualise a research design. Commence planning a study at the doctoral level. A major outcome of the unit is a research proposal in science or mathematics education. |
