Syllabus:

Elements of effective return-to-work coordination within a vocational rehabilitation context; documentation and communication, confidentiality and privacy policy, coordination of various services in program planning and implementation, and managing barriers to a return to work. Strategies for managing long-duration compensable claims, and unique factors influencing the outcome of stress-related claims.

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to - Explain the relevance of a coordinated approach to facilitating an injured worker's return to work outcomes, especially with regard to long duration claims, stress-related claims, or in response to barriers to return to work initiatives. Discuss the importance of file management and maintaining an accurate record of the client's return to work activities, with particular reference to admissible evidence. Identify and discuss the potential for breaches of confidentiality under the provisions of privacy policy, and the requirements for responsible file management and communication among stakeholders.
