Syllabus:

Reproductive physiology and its application to equine breeding. Management of the stallion and mare. Artificial breeding technologies. Legal and statutory aspects associated with equine reproduction.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Explained the physiological control of the reproductive cycle. Discussed how reproduction can be manipulated. Described the application of existing and new technologies to equine reproduction. Conducted a breeding soundness examination of a mare and stallion. Designed a breeding program.
