Syllabus: | Grape phenology, influence of climate and soil on wine grape production. The Viticultural Environments of Western Australia, grape flower and berry set. The physiology and chemistry of berry development. Biochemistry of fruit ripening, pest and disease management. Vineyard factors affecting wine quality. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Understood the process of decision making in viticulture and be able to relate to the decisions made to the actual viticulture practices. Demonstrated a basic understanding of the principles and practices with viticulture. Explained the morphology and physiology of the grapevine and the grape berry. Demonstrated an understanding of the relevant technical and seasonal operations associated with viticultural practices relevant to Western Australianconditions. Applied knowledge to solving the day to day problems that occur seasonally in the vineyard. |
