Syllabus:

Systems for prevention and treatment of ill health in Australia. Regulation, governance, policy and funding. Measuring the health of Australians. Delivery of health care, medical services, primary care and community health services. Ethics and resource allocation. Challenges facing the Australian health system.

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Described the structure of the system. Identified the role of government in regulating the health system. Outlined the financing of health care. Described the health workforce. Identified levels of care in relation to the health care needs of the community. Recognised challenges for public health.
