Syllabus:

Provision of a rationale for health promotion and priorities for health promotion for seniors, guidelines for developing health promotion programs for seniors in areas including physical activity, nutrition, mental health, medication use and planning forretirement.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Developed a rationale for health promotion for seniors. Identified priorities for health promotion for seniors. Described health assessments suitable for seniors. Described physical activity programs suitable for seniors. Described nutrition programs for seniors. Discussed licit and illicit drugs and their effects on seniors and appropriate interventions. Described guidelines for appropriate medication use by seniors. Discussed mental health promotion for seniors. Discussed guidelines for dealing with health professionals. Discussed housing appropriate for seniors. Developed plans for retirement. Developed health promotion programs for seniors.
