Syllabus:

Globalisation and international health. Socio-economic environmental influences in international health. Impact of global health issues on local health and nursing practice. Primary health care and nursing. International and national health policy. Change theory in nursing. Principles and practice of health promotion in nursing and models of health promotion applied to nursing.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Examined globalisation and its impact on international health from a nursing perspective. Identified socio-environmental factors that influence international health. Examined how globalisation, international health and public policy influence local health and nursing practice. Explained the principles and practice of primary health care and determined the role of nursing in primary health care. Explored the principles and practice of health promotion and the role of the nurse in international health. Critically examined nursing's application of primary health care principles in promoting community health.
