Syllabus: | Principles, concepts and procedures which are being utilised in curriculum materials currently available for teaching information and communication technology (ICT) in lower secondary school. Practice in the selection and writing of objectives for different groups of students. Develop learning sequences in ICT and principles for the selection of appropriate teaching and learning resources. Formulate techniques for evaluating student progress in ICT and current curriculum materials. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have- Discussed current issues relating to the teaching of introductory computer studies and develop lessons that allow students to implement computer-based solutions to data processing problems using applications software. Demonstrated an awareness of the rationale and aims of lower secondary school computer studies curricula and evaluate all aspects of lower-school computer studies programs. Demonstrated an awareness of various strategies appropriate to the teaching of lower secondary computer studies and knowledge regarding the implementation and co-ordination of information and communication technology across the curriculum. Demonstrated familiarity with the major PC-software and hardware products, and their operating systems and discuss current and likely future developments in learning technologies being adopted by schools. |
