Syllabus: | Focuses on the positions and positioning of researchers past and present. Students are required to negotiate and articulate their own position/s and standpoints as well as gain understandings of others' positions. Examines the historical patterns of research undertaken in Aboriginal contexts, and considers the politics and power relations of research in the past and present day. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have- Understood the way colonial power relations have largely excluded Indigenous Australians from research and knowledge formation. Understood why the lived experience and meaning-making of Indigenous Australian peoples needs to be foregrounded in contemporary research. Able to identify the types and forms of knowledge that are implicit in the everyday lives of Indigenous |
