Syllabus: | Properties and behaviour of rocks in mining and civil engineering, geohazards, significance of engineering geology to various environmental factors, in particular its application in mining, slope stability, underground excavation, waste disposal and underground storage, earthquakes and volcanic hazards. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Demonstrate knowledge of the basic fundamentals of engineering geology. Appreciate the application of geological principles of engineering. Analyse and assess the various ground conditions for engineering constructions. Identify the essential physical and chemical characteristics of engineering structures. |
