Syllabus: | Culture technology of commercials, important crustaceans including freshwater crayfish, marine shrimps, freshwater prawns, rock lobsters, and crabs. Hatchery technology and juvenile production of prawns and lobsters. Grow-out technology of commercially important crustacean. Production cycles and management practices. Nutrition and feeding. Post-harvest handling and marketing. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have- Described the culture technologies of various penaeid and non-penaeid prawns, freshwater prawns, freshwater crayfish and crabs. Described the infrastructure requirements of a penaeid prawn hatchery. Designed a typical penaeid prawn hatchery. Developed skills in handling of local penaeid prawns and freshwater crayfish. Discussed the recent developments in crustacean nutrition and nutrient requirements of local freshwater crayfish. |
