Syllabus:

Geophysical techniques assist with delineating mineralisation and structures between drill holes and mine openings, with benefits such as reduced drilling expenditure and improved resource estimation. Covers property measurement, drill-hole logging, and electrical and electromagnetic, as well as magnetic, survey methods. Following on from basic theory, the course will involve practical interpretation techniques applied to data from several projects.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On sucessful completion of this unit, students will have an understanding of the major geophysical techniques and knowledge of how to apply geophysical exploration techniques in the near-mine setting.
