Syllabus: | Provides an overview of residential, commercial and industrial building construction and building services, with emphasis on identification of components and defects, construction techniques and styles and their cost implications. Basic elements of building cost estimation. Building measurements. Building contracts, plans and approvals. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have developed sufficient understanding of building techniques and cost estimation to be able to describe buildings in reports. Identified defects, prepare preliminary development costings and appreciated the cost implications of different approaches to design. |
