Syllabus: | Identification of the economic, environmental and social impacts of tourist development within the context of sustainable tourism activity. Tourism plans and policies are analysed and used to define relationships between planning and development, government and industry and enterprise and intervention. |

Unit Outcomes: | To understand the role of national, state and local government in tourism development and the role of tourism plans and policies. To appreciate the scope and nature of planning frameworks for tourism development. To develope an understanding of environmental, cultural and economic impacts as they relate to tourism opportunities. To appreciate the divide between public and private responsibility within the tourism development industry. |
