Syllabus: | Directed study and research. Definitions of terrestrial coordinate systems and reference frames. Coordinate transformations between geodetic datums - Molodenskii, Bursa-Wolf. Multiple regression equations. Map projection theory - conformity, differential geometry. Map projection types - conical, cylindrical, azimuthal. Choosing optimal projections. Case studies of projections used in Australia and overseas. |

Unit Outcomes: | On completion of this unit students will have - Acquired technological and information literacy skills and effective written and oral communication skills, shown an improved capacity for critical, creative and analytical thinking, developed the ability to work independently and collaboratively. |
