Syllabus:

Provides an introductory understanding of aquaculture and develops familiarity with aquaculture system design. Common materials used in aquaculture are examined and the application of basic physics to recirculating, flow - through and static systems is addressed.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have- Learnt about pond construction and design principles used on aquaculture farms. Learnt pond preperation methods used on aquaculture farms. Become familiar with key aquaculture materials and their use. Become familiar with basic weldiing and fibreglassing requirements. Identified and understood the characteristics of microalgae used in aquaculture. Monitored the health and growth dynamics of microalgae, Maintained a commercial culture of atleast one species of microalgae. Understood the life history of brine shrimp. Learnt about decapsulation and hatching of brine shrimps
