Syllabus: | Key concepts and principles of Indigenous Community Management Development Practice and Indigenous Primary Health Care Practice, including empowerment and self determination and their incorporation into an indigenous practitioner role. Implications of appropriate practice as an ethical indigenous practitioner of Indigenous Community Management and Development or Indigenous Primary Health Care in own community or organisational context. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Described the situation of Indigenous people in own area. Built a picture of own, positions and roles in family, community and work. Explained the concept of self-determination as it applies to Indigenous people. Described the principles and practices of empowerment to assist in bringing about positive social change. Identified relevant knowledge, skills, values, attitudes and ethics for Indigenous professional practice. |
