Syllabus:

Different curriculum sequences, logical, psychological, conceptual and developmental. Tyler's concepts of continuity and integration. Exploration of Western Australian Curriculum Framework and learning areas. Planning learning area lesson sequences, developing a concept, skill or value. Sequencing in curriculum resources including syllabus and learning area statements and outcomes. Exploring curriculum definitions, curriculum as all the planned learning which occurs in schools. The notion of the hidden curriculum. Implementing the sequence, intention and reality. Evaluating learning outcomes across lesson sequences - formative and summative evaluation.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- An understanding of he theoretical foundations which underpin curriculum as an area of study. An understanding of Curriculum planning processes. Used appropriate formative and summative evaluation strategies across learning areas. Use of appropriate curriculum resources and materials for a developmental sequence of lessons. An understanding of Curriculum frameworks and student outcome statements in planning, implementing and evaluating learning area outcomes.
