Syllabus: | Models of promotion, prevention and intervention in mental health, causal pathways of protective and risk factors, ecological contexts influencing mental health outcomes in individuals and families. Development of self constructs. |

Unit Outcomes: | Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to - Compare, contrast and critique principle models and relevant strategies for promotion, prevention and early intervention in mental health practice. Identify causal pathways related to protective and risk factors in individual and family contexts and their link to outcomes across the lifespan. Investigate and evaluate the impact of self-constructs (self-efficacy, competence and self-esteem) on mental health development. Investigate and identify current ecological environmental contexts influencing mental health outcomes in a given context - workplace, schools, university, family, child care, aged care and leisure contexts. |
