Syllabus:

Practices, methods and theories for producing and maintaining sustainable urban communities. Case studies exploration of a range of environmental issues including - social justice in the city, social ecology of urban life, employment, service provision,urban infrastructure, recreation and leisure, demographic changes and participation in local governance.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will be able to: understand the applicability of notions of sustainability in urban communities, appreciate the major theoretical approaches informing this field of study, identify, from a series of case studies, the key processes, issues and stakeholders, in the context of sustainable community development and demonstrate skills in the reporting and evaluation of projects in the aforesaid context.
