Syllabus: | A study of blood counts, peripheral blood and bone marrow smears for the clinical laboratory investigation of common haematological disorders, including haemolytic anaemia and leukaemia. Blood transfusion practice including serological techniques, ABO/Rhesus blood grouping, antibody identification, compatibility testing and other blood groups. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Designed and developed practical skills and interpreted laboratory measurements for the diagnosis of common haematological disorders. Understanding of good laboratory practice and be able to demonstrate knowledge of common diagnostic procedures in the discipline of haematology. |
