Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Demonstrated competency in the application of the principles of the various forms of infection control. Critically evaluated standards of infection control in a variety of clinical settings. Demonstrated a knowledge of the theory of disease transmission, sources of infection, role of the environment. Developed a knowledge of risks associated with intravascular devices, routes of infection, consequences and policies for prevention. Demonstrated a knowledge of consequences of infections associated with urinary catheters, strategies for prevention, principles of isolation practices, role of additional transmission based precautions on disease transmission. Demonstrated a knowledge of environment andsurgical factors influencing surgical site infections, infection control issues related to the management of medical waste. |
