Syllabus:

Application of concepts, knowledge, skills and current research findings in perioperative nursing practice. Delivery modes of surgical intervention. Role and practice issues. The perioperative nurse-client relationship - advocacy role. Collegiality and teamwork.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Provided perioperative nursing care at a competent level to the patient requiring surgical intervention. Utilised a problem solving approach in the provision of perioperative nursing care. Demonstrated the ability to utilise the principles of scientific inquiry in the evaluation of perioperative nursing interventions that promote the health of the surgical patient. Demonstrated the capacity to evaluate collaborative relationships with other members of the health care team within the perioperative setting.
