Syllabus: | Strategic level understanding of contract and procurement management. Contracting process, risk management, interfaces with project management and future directions. Procurement strategy development, life cycle costing, tendering and negotiation skills. New issues in outsourcing and development of top level policies. Analysis of practical approaches organisations adopt to improve effectiveness and efficiency. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Described the contract development process, and its interface to project completion. Explained the meaning of the terms and concepts used in this course (i.e. life cycle cost, tendering, forward procurement planning, conditions of contract, etc.). Described the contracting alternatives available to managers today, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each. Applied risk management principles to the contracting and procurement processes.Explained the critical success factors associated with contract administration, and how to increase probability of success. |
