Syllabus:

Presentation of Indigenous Australian people in public discourses and a critical analysis of how these have influenced Indigenous Australian identity. Examination of the ways in which Indigenous people have responded to, challenged and contributed to these discourses through their own world views and theoretical perspectives.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- The ability to critically analyse the ways in which Indigenous Australians have been represented in public discourse. Developed an understanding of how these representations have influenced Indigenous Australian identity. A familiarisation with Indigenous responses, challenges and contributions to these discourses through their own world views and theoretical perspectives.
