Syllabus:

The development and presentation of an original mine planning and design project. Demonstrates the core principles and concepts learnt during the course - a critical review of the resource estimate used, rationale behind selection of the mining method, mine layout and design and its associated geotechnical implications, equipment selection, mining services requirements, operating and capital cost estimation, mine development and production scheduling and a financial analysis of the project.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will have - Developed and presented (in the form of a detailed report/thesis) an original mine planning and/or design project agreed upon the consultation with the course coordinator. Applied the core principles and concepts learnt during the course of the program.
