Syllabus:

Exploration of detailed anatomical structure and relationships of a prescribed area of the body, methods of preservation of human cadaver material, the anatomy act and its requirements, prosection skills and techniques, theory and practical application of plastination processes.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have- Demonstrated skills in the planning and completion of a prosecuted human anatomical specimen of a prescribed region. Explained the positive and negative aspects of various preservation techniques for animal material. Produced a palatinate specimen for use in teaching. Communicated, via a variety of media, the morphological features of a prescribed anatomical region. Effectively employed the appropriate anatomical technologies to display prosecutedmaterial for teaching. Knowledge of the legislative and safety procedures relevant to the prosecution of human anatomical material. Co-authored a journal article based on practical work undertaken.
