Syllabus:

The Americo-centric nature of the Internet and challenges to American cultural expansion via the Internet. Different case studies and histories relating to the Internet - France, Singapore, China and African nations. Infrastructure and other problems facing many nations in relation to Internet technologies. Application of Internet technologies by indigenous peoples. The politics of globalisation and cultural homogeneity.
