Syllabus: | Application of management theory and practice in health information services. Staff recruitment, training and management strategies including performance management, conflict management and grievance procedures. Introduction to health economics. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Demonstrate an understanding of the application of management functions in the context of the health information service. Demonstrate an understanding of staff recruitment and selection processes within the health information service. Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of staff training through the design of training objectives and an orientation program lesson plan. Describe the process of performance appraisal and how this articulates into staff development programs. Describe employee discipline and grievance procedures currently in use in Western Australian hospitals. Develop the ability to apply problem-solving and analytical skills to health information management. Demonstratean understanding of the concepts of introductory health economics. |
